Birth Services

Transforming your birth experience…

Bringing a baby into the world is one of the most memorable experiences you will have in your lifetime.

Research shows that continuous support during labour by a Doula is associated with improved maternal and fetal health, increased likelihood of spontaneous birth, shorter labour times, less complications, positive feelings toward the labour and birth process, reduced need for medical intervention (such as Epidural, Pitocin, Forceps and Vacuum), less cesareans, shorter hospital stays, better breastfeeding outcomes, reduced postpartum depression and higher 5-minute APGAR scores.

Our promise…

It’s essential for us as your doula to support you and your partner throughout pregnancy, labour, childbirth, and the postpartum period leaving you feeling confident, well-informed and empowered.

We offer emotional support and evidence-based information around birthing choice and pain relief options and utilize a variety of tools to help regulate contractions, optimize baby positioning, reduce stress and anxiety and reduce discomfort.

Let’s be clear about something…birth is no walk in the park. It takes commitment, hard work, sweat and tears. It truly is the labour of love. With us at your side, it will be a lot easier for you on many levels (and we sweat and cry along with you).

The Planned C

Ideal for anyone who is having a planned Cesarean.

Yes, even someone who is having a planned Cesarean needs a doula. You still want to be in control, advocate for yourself, and of course, create a plan with your Naturopathic doula to support your body and healing before and after the procedure.

The Planned C Package:

  • One Prenatal in-office or virtual appointment. Your Doula will discuss nutrition, supplementation, the Cesarean experience (what to expect), how to prepare your body for the birth and healing postpartum, fears and anxiety, creating a birth plan (yes, you still need documented birth preferences) and will answer any questions you may have.

  • SCENARIO 1: Cesarean attendance. The presence of a doula at the actual procedure depends highly on the hospital and the Anesthesiologist. Even the OB doesn’t have a say whether or not you can be in the room, because, technically, the OR is run by the Anesthesiologist. If your doula can attend the actual procedure, she will meet you at the hospital beforehand and proceed in with you. Your doula will offer emotional support and will explain medical terminology and medical interventions as well as all your options at your birth. Includes up to two hours of postpartum support immediately after birth (this will likely include first latch, unless there are circumstances that don’t allow)

  • SCENARIO 2: Hospital presence in Recovery. In the case your doula cannot be present at the procedure itself, she will meet you in the recovery room or postpartum unit at a best time that is decided between you and your doula. Here she will assist with breastfeeding and recovery.

  • One postpartum In-home visit within the first week after birth. Your Doula will offer breastfeeding assistance, assess baby for jaundice, milk intake, rashes etc., and offer postpartum support including the natural treatment of low milk supply, energy, mood and stress, etc. A big part of this visit is focused on healing from the surgery and getting you back on your feet sooner!

    You will also receive:

  • Access to Naturopathic techniques and tools including acupuncture, homeopathy, botanical remedies and herbal formulations, nutritional counselling and supplement review.

  • A personalized birth plan

  • Access to our resources

  • On-call 24/7 starting at 37 weeks until the birth of the baby

  • Email and text support up to 2 weeks postpartum

  • Back up Doula

  • Option to continue your and/or your child’s care with a Naturopathic Doctor during the first year of life and beyond.

  • Coverage for Naturopathic Doula services under your Extended Health Insurance plan. Since Naturopathic Doctors are government regulated, we can support you, your partner and your future baby.

Add on: Additional postpartum visits with your doula will be at a cost of $265 per visit (in home or in office).
